We Make

Custom Furniture

We do custom differently than most. Rather than letting our customer pick from a small selection of colors and hardware, we specially handcraft your furniture. You choose everything: the size, species, stain, function, hardware, and more. We use your vision as our guide. We work with you in every step of our customization process, making sure that each detail is exactly how you imagined.

You don’t have to be a furniture expert

Whether you know exactly what you want or you only have an idea, we help you through each step of the customization process. Our design experts are in-store to help shape your vision into a beautiful, heirloom-quality piece of furniture that will last for years. Jim Snip is Homestead’s resident furniture designer, and his years of expertise and experience allow him to help each customer create their ideal furniture.

Create something unique

To get started with your custom furniture project, we recommend that you come into our showroom and meet with one of our design experts. Here, you’ll sit down and go over the details of your piece. It’s best to do this on our in-store, where you’re able to access every species of wood and color swatch that we offer. Whether you have an idea for what you need or you’re starting from scratch, you can browse our showroom and get inspired by some of our past designs. That way, you can see and touch which elements you want to include in your finished piece.

The Build Process

Once your design is complete, we begin to collect the materials needed to construct your furniture. Construction doesn’t begin until all of the necessary pieces and hardware are received. We don’t have assembly lines in our factory, so once construction starts, your piece is completed by hand by one craftsman on one workbench. This is how we’ve always made furniture-with careful attention to detail and hand-crafted quality.

Our Color Lab

We have a library of more than 2,000 colors and stains for you to choose from. We’ve perfected our application techniques, including distressing and multi-layered, high-definition colors, which means we’re able to achieve highly unique finishes on our furniture. Homestead creates HD colors that are composed of anywhere from five to twenty-five steps, and we also offer color matching for clients who already have a swatch they love. Any existing color or stain can be matched and recreated with our Color Lab. We’re constantly developing new colors — in fact, we try to create three new colors each month.

No Worries, You’re Protekt™ed

Our trademarked ProTekt™ finish is the highest grade catalyzed varnish available. This finish resists water marks, acidic spills (such as tomato juice and nail polish remover), and temperatures up to 220 degrees. Furniture is made to be used and lived-in, and we care about the lifespan of your piece. We want you to have heirloom furniture that truly lasts for generations, which is why we only use this top-of-the-line finish on all our pieces.

Quality Control and Delivery

Quality Control & Delivery

Before furniture leaves our facility, it first must pass through three separate quality control review points. In these stages, we look for any blemishes or imperfections on the furniture. Pieces that don’t satisfy our standards are sent back through the finishing process until they’re perfect. We exhaustively check and re-check each piece for defects because we want your furniture to last for generations. Finally, our job isn’t finished until your furniture is safely delivered to your house with our white glove delivery service.

Tour our facility

Want to see our craftsmen in action? We offer daily tours of our facility where you can follow furniture through every step of our build process. For larger groups (10 or more), we ask that you call to schedule your tour ahead of time. Our facility is Certified Green, and our state-of-the-art facilities are kept clean while the air in our factory is re-circulated every three minutes so that our woodworkers don’t need to wear respirators. We welcome visitors at Homestead, and we love the chance to show how we do what we do.
