When it comes to construction, we build furniture the same way we did in 1990, when we worked out of a chicken coop — with one craftsman per piece, from start to finish. Once your furniture is ready for production, the same builder crafts your furniture throughout the entire construction process. Homestead doesn’t use production lines in — each craftsman has his own workbench where he completes one project at a time, from beginning to end.
Homestead is an Amish-owned company, and that makes us different from other manufacturers. We’re able to combine the care and craft of traditional Amish construction with all of the cutting-edge designs and styles of high-end furniture. Many of our craftsmen come from long lines of generational woodworkers. We want only the finest in craftsmanship, and that’s why we do what we do.
We invite visitors to take a tour of our facility during a trip to Homestead. Our guided tour gives a birds-eye view of how our furniture is built — from start to finish. Throughout the tour, you’re able to talk with our craftsmen and see how a furniture piece moves through every step in our build process. You’ll see furniture in its raw form, being sanded, stained, and finished, and ready to leave our warehouse.
Plan Your VisitWe’ve mastered the science behind layering specific pigments, using unique application tools, and distressing techniques to achieve our best furniture finishes.
